The Proposal

THE 39th AMENDMENT (FAMILY)

The constitution defines the family as being founded upon by marriage in Articles 41.1 and 41.3.

This amendment proposed to change the definition of marriage, by adding ‘other durable relationships’ with marriage in what constituted a family in Article 41.1.1°, and would have removed the phrase ‘on which the family is founded’ in relation to marriage in article 41.3.1°.
